SPCA International Response to U.S. Marine Puppy Abuse Video and Marine Corps Investigation
March 4th 2008

We condemn the actions of the marines in the video and hope the U.S. Marine Corps takes swift and strong action during the investigation.

Washington, DC March 4 – SPCA International is horrified by the acts of cruelty displayed in the Web video showing a puppy being thrown off a cliff by a U.S. Marine. We condemn the actions of the marines in the video and hope the U.S. Marine Corps takes swift and strong action during the investigation.

However, SPCA International’s experience with U.S. military personnel through our program, Operation Baghdad Pups, has been quite the opposite of what is seen in the video. We receive numerous calls and emails daily from military personnel desperate to rescue the animals they have befriended in the war zone. We strongly urge the public to donate to Operation Baghdad Pups in condemnation of the abuse in the video and to support U.S. soldiers who care about the wellbeing of all animals.
