National Pet Week: May 4 – 10, 2008
May 2nd 2008

During National Pet Week, pet parents are encouraged to spend time with their pets, as well as ensuring their pet’s health is properly cared for.

We all know how much pets can make a difference in our lives by providing us with unconditional love, hours of companionship, devotion, loyalty and relationships that enrich our lives. Join SPCA International in celebrating those relationships during National Pet Week, May 4 – 10, 2008. This year focuses on this bond with the 2008 theme, “Pets Make the Difference.”

Over the years, National Pet Week has focused on the importance of the human-animal bond, responsible pet parenting, as well as the vital role veterinarians play in their pets' lives. Founded in 1981 by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Auxiliary of the AVMA, National Pet Week is now widely celebrated throughout the United States and other parts of the world.

During National Pet Week, pet parents are encouraged to spend time with their pets, as well as ensuring their pets' health is properly cared for. Entrusting their care and treatment to veterinarians who strive to maintain and improve the quality of life for pets, also helps preserve the bond between people and their pets. Together, people, pets and veterinarians can make a winning combination.
