Operation Baghdad Pups Update
May 1st 2008

We still have 25 animals to rescue and just a few short weeks to accomplish our goal.

Thanks to SPCA International supporters like you, we have been able to rescue 2 cats and 5 dogs in just the last 2 weeks!

To date, we have completed 6 missions to Iraq to rescue multiple animals.

However, our celebration is short-lived because of the urgency we now face with airlines beginning to impose their heat embargos on animal travel in the Middle East. We still have 25 animals to rescue and just a few short weeks to accomplish our goal.

If we don’t get most of these animals out before the heat embargos, many of their soldiers will have to deal with the heartache of leaving them behind to face the cruel streets on their own.

Two of the dogs we need to rescue are sisters, Roxie and Rosie. Their soldier tells us they aren’t from the same litter, but they were raised together, so they’re family all the same. We also need to rescue Caramel, Francine, Tom, Naomi and Iraqi - among so many others.

Iraqi’s soldier, Alishia, explains, “While being over here stress is dumped on each soldier every day, but when there is a piece of home nearby it makes every day better. You are happier and stress free. Iraqi has been that piece of home for me.”

Thank you for your ongoing generous support. As you can see, it means so much to our troops and the animals who get a chance at life.
