Good news for people and dogs in Quebec

On 6 June 2018, in Articles, News, by Anita Kapuscinska

bslMontreal, June 6 2018 – Today, the Quebec Government has announced it will not be moving forward with provincial Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). Following the Commission hearings, the government stated that breed bans are unenforceable and lack any scientific basis. Bill 128 was amended to remove all elements of BSL. Also, the Liberal government has stated that it will be looking into further measures to regulate the breeding of dogs in Quebec. The three main political parties expressed statisfaction with the amended bill.

The Montreal SPCA wishes to thank the 86,562 people who spoke out against breed bans on saferkindercommunities.com. We’re delighted to be able to count on such a wonderful community.
