Board of Directors

The main tasks of the Montreal SPCA’s Board of Directors are to plan and guide the organization’s policies and to make strategic decisions aimed at achieving its goals and objectives. Ultimately, the Board answers for the SPCA’s organizational and financial soundness to the community it serves. Elected by the members of the Montreal SPCA, the Board consists of nine volunteers with a variety of backgrounds in terms of both professional expertise and personal interests. The Montreal SPCA’s Board Members must:

— Have a sincere interest in the organization’s work

— Be able to carry out their responsibilities and achieve the organization’s objectives

— Represent the diversity of the organization’s constituents and the community it serves

— Represent the organization’s various areas of operation

— Be fiscally responsible to the organization and the community

Marie-Claude St-Amant, President

Marie-Claude St-Amant has been a lawyer for 16 years and is a partner at Melançon Marceau Grenier Cohen (MMGC) where she practises in the areas of labour law, human rights and freedoms and animal advocacy. She is a founding member of the Association des juristes progressistes (AJP), co-coordinator of the International Labour Law Committee of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers (CALL) and a lecturer in animal law at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).

Bianka Monette, Treasurer

Bianka Monette, Chief Financial Officer at Moment Factory, has over 30 years of experience in the financial management of publicly traded and private multinational companies. For the last five years, she has played a key role at Moment Factory, where she orchestrates the company’s worldwide finances, drawing on her exceptional skills and experience as a CFO. Prior to joining Moment Factory, Bianka held senior positions at Boralex and Semafo. Bianka has a degree in accounting from Concordia University, and she has been a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec since 1995.

 William Awad, secrétaire

William Awad is a human resources management expert at Deloitte over 17 years of experience in HR leadership, business partnerships, and organizational change and talent management. He leads diverse teams in designing, developing and implementing HR strategies, operating models, organizational structures, talent management frameworks, and HRIS and transaction systems integration.

 Frédéric Côté-Boudreau

Frédéric Côté-Boudreau is a CÉGEP philosophy professor and an animal ethics specialist. His doctoral thesis, completed in 2019, focuses on the notions of autonomy and paternalism as they apply to nonhuman animals. He is also a member of the Animals in Philosophy, Politics, Law and Ethics as well as the Groupe de recherche en éthique environnementale et animale (GREEA) research groups.

 Carlos Ponce

Carlos Ponce is an entrepreneur and marketing specialist with over 25 years of experience in building brands and business leadership. Currently CEO of Lumiera Health Inc, a publicly traded company that develops and markets natural health products, he uses his strategic and operational skills to build innovative brands that help people lead healthier, happier lives.

 Dre Marie Robichaud, m.v.

Dr. Marie Robichaud earned her PhD in veterinary medicine from the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in June 2013. She then completed her residency in companion animal medicine and surgery at the Centre Vétérinaire Rive-Sud. Dr. Robichaud works in both emergency and clinical settings. Since graduating, she has also worked in several shelters.

Michael Tsaprailis

Michael Tsaprailis is a partner in KPMG’s Services-conseils—Management branch in Montreal. He guides organizations through executing their strategic plan, adopting technology solutions and agile business models, and identifying opportunities for growth. Mr. Tsaprailis has been supporting organizations for nearly 30 years and brings extensive international experience in strategy analysis and execution, digital transformation and business performance strategy.
