Montreal, September 22, 2014 \u2013<\/strong> The Montreal SPCA in partnership with the Ville de Montr\u00e9al are organizing Operation Adoption<\/em>, an adoption clinic featuring cats and dogs, on September 26 and 27 at the Montreal SPCA\u2019s two shelters. The Ville de Montr\u00e9al will offer a $50 reduction on the adoption fees to the first 100 people who will adopt a cat or dog at the Montreal SPCA during these two days.<\/p>\n

Why adopt instead of buying a pet? To help save lives, to stop pet overpopulation and to provide a second chance at a healthy animal. Also, did you know that adopting often less expensive? Animals adopted in shelters and rescue groups are generally less expensive than the same animals bought or even obtained for free. If you add up the cost of vaccines, sterilization, microchip, treatment against worms and health guarantee, you will be surprised to learn that an adopted pet is really a good deal! Help us curb the number of abandoned animals. Adoption from a shelter is an act of love that helps save lives. This is a good deed for you, for the shelter, but especially for an animal that needs you.<\/p>\n

As Canada\u2019s oldest humane organization, the Montreal SPCA recognizes the tremendous value of working within a network of cities, boroughs and grass-roots animal rescue organizations to end the tragic overpopulation of dogs and cats of the Island of Montreal,\u201d said Nicholas Gilman, Executive Director of the Montreal SPCA.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the third consecutive year, the Ville de Montr\u00e9al is working in collaboration with the Montreal SPCA to raise awareness among citizens about the importance and benefits of adopting a pet from a shelter. I invite Montrealers who are considering acquiring an animal, to do as part of Operation<\/i> Adoption<\/i>. For this responsible action, the new owner will bring home an animal that has received appropriate care,” said Ms. Anie Samson, Vice-chair of the Montr\u00e9al Executive Committee, responsible for citizen services.<\/p>\n
