Montreal, September 11 2014 \u2013<\/b> On June 10th<\/sup>, the Montreal SPCA seized 35 medium and large breed dogs from a facility located in the Lanaudi\u00e8re region under the Animal Health Protection Act<\/em>. These dogs have spent most of their lives living in unsanitary conditions, in addition to being kept either chained outdoors or crated inside a house. Yesterday afternoon, the 35 dogs were surrendered to the Montreal SPCA and they are now available for adoption.<\/p>\n

The dogs, mostly huskies and husky mixes, have been under the care of the Montreal SPCA for the past three months. \u201cWe are so pleased, and relieved, that these dogs will be able to find new loving homes and that they will never again be victims of neglect\u201d said Sophie Gaillard, Lawyer and campaigns manager for the Montreal SPCA\u2019s Animal Advocacy Department. \u201cEvery dog has been evaluated by a canine behaviorist in order to pair him or her with the right family. Further, each dog will be sterilized, microchipped, in addition to having received the proper medical care prior to adoption\u201d.<\/p>\n

The owners, Mr. Yan Lamothe and Mrs. Johanne Lavall\u00e9e, surrendered the dogs that had been seized from their premises. Mr. Lamothe and Mrs. Lavall\u00e9e face 14 tickets issued under the Animal Health Protection Act.<\/i><\/p>\n

The dogs from the seizure are currently available at the Montreal SPCA, 5215 Jean-Talon West. Families interested in adopting are invited to visit with all their family members (including canine members if there are any) during our adoption hours: Monday-Friday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday-Sunday from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Many of these dogs are timid and seeking patient and calm adoptive families to help them adjust to their new lives. All prospective adopters should have the time and resources required for positive reinforcement training. The Montreal SPCA would also like to remind the public that there are many other dogs and pets available for adoption at our shelter and that they are all looking for a forever home.<\/p>\n
