Montreal, October 18th, 2017 \u2013 <\/strong>On October 11th, the Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019Agriculture des P\u00eacheries et de l\u2019Alimentation du Qu\u00e9bec (MAPAQ) assisted the S\u00fbret\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec with the seizure of 71 small dogs<\/a>. The animals were removed from the premises with the Montreal SPCA\u2019s assistance and were placed in the custody of the Montreal SPCA, where they have been receiving the attention and veterinary care that they require. The dogs have now been officially relinquished by their owner and are gradually being made available for adoption starting today at noon.<\/p>\n

People who are interested in adopting are invited to visit us during our operating hours<\/a>. We ask that all household members be present, including children, roommates and current dogs. Our adoption counsellors will be pleased to assist potential adopters to ensure great matches and help avoid unpleasant surprises<\/a>. The Montreal SPCA would like to thank the public for its support and looks forward to meeting the new adoptive families. \u201cWe are relieved that these animals will be able to find new loving homes and that they will never again be victims of abuse or neglect,\u201d said \u00c9lise Desaulniers, Executive Director of the Montreal SPCA. \u201cEvery animal will be sterilized and microchipped, in addition to receiving the proper medical care prior to adoption\u201d.<\/p>\n

These dogs need patient adoptive homes to help them adjust to their new lives. As they are vocal and not yet housebroken, they will require positive reinforcement training. The Montreal SPCA also wishes to remind the public that we have many other animals available for adoption at our shelter, all of them looking for a loving forever home.<\/p>\n
