Yet despite his fear and insecurity, he was still asking to be pet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Our x-ray machines to the rescue<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To find out what was causing the\ndifficulty walking noted during his exam, we took x-rays of his legs. The\nx-rays helped us diagnose an old fracture of the femoral head near the hip\njoint. F\u00e9lix still had a strong reaction when it was touched. Growling and\nspitting was his way of saying he was in pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"530\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Felix-femur-1024x530.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26739\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.spca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Felix-femur-1024x530.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.spca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Felix-femur-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.spca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Felix-femur-768x397.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.spca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Felix-femur.jpg 2015w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A complicated surgery<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To get back to\nnormal, F\u00e9lix needed a difficult surgery. Luckily, Dr. Carole-Anne Laurin and\nher team where able to do an arthroplasty of the femoral head and neck. The\nsurgery entailed removing part of the femur that, along with the pelvis, made\nup the hip joint. He even found\na forever home!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stories like this are quite common at our shelter, and it\u2019s largely thanks to you that our team is able to save thousands of animals and help them find loving homes.
