Montreal, February 26, 2020<\/strong> – The Montreal SPCA is most grateful to EBOX for its $50,000 donation\nresulting from its #EBOXGivesBack campaign held between May 27 and June 23, 2019. Through the campaign, EBOX sought to\nraise public awareness about animal abandonment around moving day<\/a> and to\nsupport the SPCA in its work.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mission accomplished <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe can say \u2018mission accomplished\u2019 and applaud the campaign, whose\nslogan was \u2018Moving?<\/em> Abandon your supplier, not your pet!\u2019.<\/em>\nIn addition to the funds that will allow us to take in and care for animals in\nneed, EBOX\u2019s campaign provided the cause with fantastic visibility and raised\npublic awareness around this important issue at a time of year when animal crises\nabound in Montreal,\u201d said \u00c9lise Desaulniers, Executive Director of the Montreal\nSPCA.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between May 27 and June 23, 2019, EBOX\ndonated $5 to the SPCA for each new subscription to its Internet, television or\ntelephony services, and $0.25 for each social media like, comment, share or\npost using the #EBOXGivesBack hashtag. Implemented all over the city, the #EBOXGivesBack\ncampaign not only reached its financial goal, it got significant attention,\nthanks to a few influencers like PL Cloutier, Cynthia Dulude, Simon Leclerc,\nJemcee, Sansdrick and F\u00e9lix-Antoine Tremblay. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEBOX is pleased to donate the $50,000 raised\nduring the #EBOXGivesBack campaign to support the Montreal SPCA\u2019s mission to\ncounter animal abandonment and to thank those who have helped make it a\nsuccess. This donation will provide animals in distress with the shelter and\ncare they need,\u201d said Jean-Philippe B\u00e9\u00efque, CEO and chair of EBOX Communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving day: A crisis, year\nafter year<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the months around moving day<\/a>, the\nnumber of animals abandoned at the Montreal SPCA nearly triples, from around\n600 a month to approximately 1,600. Many are given up for the sole reason that\ntheir humans were unable to find animal-friendly rentals. And the situation is likely to be even\nmore critical this year given the affordable housing situation in Montreal. Though one in two Quebec households has a\ncompanion animal, only 4.2% of landlords accept tenants with dogs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
