Montr\u00e9al, June 8, 2022 –<\/strong> Since summer is the busiest time of the year at the Montreal SPCA, there are many wonderful animals currently awaiting adoption: mostly cats, rabbits and other small animals, but also a few large adult dogs. To facilitate their adoption, the Montreal SPCA will be holding a special event <\/a>and waiving adoption fees this Friday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want each of our prot\u00e9g\u00e9s to find a loving adoptive family. Adopters will be invited to contribute in the amount of their choice to our mission with the animals,\u201d explains \u00c9lise Desaulniers, Executive Director of the Montreal SPCA. \u201cOur adoption counsellors will be happy to guide families and answer their questions,\u201d she adds.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prospective families will also receive information on the commitment and responsibilities they are taking on by adopting an animal. Food and many basic accessories will be available for sale at the Montreal SPCA Boutique. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Animals awaiting forever families<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

About 50 cats (including many elderly cats), 20 rabbits and 60 small animals, such as mice, degus, guinea pigs, turtles and rats, are waiting for a new home. Adoptive families can bring a carrier or they can plan to purchase one at the Montreal SPCA Boutique. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The few dogs available for adoption are mostly large and will be placed with families with members ages 16 years or older. These dogs have all undergone behavioural assessments to be properly matched with families and many will require follow-up in dog behaviour counselling. Please note that a second visit to the shelter may be required for the adoption to be completed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All animals have been examined by a veterinarian. Dogs and cats are spayed or neutered and microchipped, and have had their first basic vaccination. Dogs also have received rabies shots. Rabbits are sterilized. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Appointment are not necessary. Interested families are asked to carefully read the instructions on the Montreal SPCA\u2019s Facebook page<\/a> before coming to the shelter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
