Found in the snow in the middle of February\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/h1>

Kumquat was found in the snow, in a gym parking lot, in Montr\u00e9al-Nord. Fortunately, the person who spotted him immediately brought the kitten in to the Montreal SPCA. We do a check-up on each orphaned kitten when they arrive at the shelter to make sure their condition is stable. <\/span>At the time of his admission, Kumquat was about two days old, weighed only 86 g<\/span><\/b> and was too weak to eat.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

It took two hours for Kumquat to regain an adequate body temperature. The fragile kitten was then transferred to a foster family who watched over him very closely and made sure he got better.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Kumquat<\/span>\u2019<\/span>s foster home <\/span>was responsible for<\/span> keeping him <\/span><\/span>warm<\/span><\/span>, taking his <\/span><\/span>temperature<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>periodically, <\/span><\/span>feeding<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>him with a <\/span><\/span>s<\/span>yringe<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>every <\/span>three<\/span> hours, even <\/span>throughout the<\/span><\/strong> night<\/strong>, cleaning him regularly and <\/span><\/span>weighing<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>him after each feeding to carefully <\/span>monitor<\/span> his condition.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cWhen we receive orphans, we contact specialized foster families quickly to see if they can take in one or more kittens. These families are extremely dedicated and qualified. Every minute counts, as the kittens\u2019 immune system is very fragile. The sooner they leave the shelter, the better their chances of survival.<\/b>\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Thankfully, everything is going according to plan so far for our little Kumquat.\u00a0Despite his small size, it didn’t take long for his big personality to start shining through in his foster family. <\/strong>Without surprise, He particularly appreciates the flexibility and extra attention he gets frome remote work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

He will <\/span>remain<\/span> in his foster home until he is able to <\/span><\/span>eat <\/span>on his own<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and reach the required weight for the SPCA veterinary team to <\/span><\/span>spay<\/span><\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>deworm<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and <\/span><\/span>microchip<\/span><\/span>\u00a0him.<\/span><\/span> Only then\u00a0 \u00a0will he be able to find his new forever home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
