Montreal, September 8 2014 – The Montreal SPCA, the largest society for the protection of animals in Quebec and the Anima-Plus Veterinary Hospitals Inc. (“Anima-Plus”), a leader in veterinary medicine in Quebec, are pleased to announce the agenda of the 4th edition of the Anima-Plus Walk on All 4s for the benefit of the Montreal SPCA. We anticipate over 400 people and 200 dogs at the Walk.

The event is taking place on Mount Royal on Sunday, September 21, 2014, from 10 am to 2 pm. The objective of the day is to offer Montrealers a family activity in the company of man’s best friend! The goal is to raise $100,000 in the form of donations, sponsorships and registrations. The raised funds will help the Montreal SPCA continue its mission for the animals.

Dre GuenetteThe spokesperson of the event is Dr. Sarah Annie Guenette, President, Chief of operations and Medical Director at Anima-Plus, that we have seen collaborate in the show Le grand jeu des animaux on Télé-Québec. “The love of animals is the raison d’être of Anima-Plus. We take it to heart to help the Montreal SPCA, its role being essential to the protection of animal welfare,” says Dr. Guenette. Enthusiastic by this opportunity to see many of her little patients, Dr. Guenette will be present with her faithful Chihuahua Esteban at the Walk.

Although the 2.5 kilometer Walk is main attraction of the day, many other fun and educational activities for all ages, will take place at the main site, the Smith House. The event’s organizers have also planned an educational component to the Walk. Experts will share their passion and knowledge with you. The Anima-Plus veterinary team will be on site to answer your questions about your dog’s general health, weight, teeth or even to trim his nails. You can also enjoy clever tips or learn about dog psychology thanks to the Montreal SPCA’s canine behaviorists that will offer two 15-minute workshops for children on bite prevention.

The Montreal SPCA, founded in April 1869, was the first animal welfare organization in Canada. We have a long tradition of investigating abuses committed against animals, rescuing and adopting out hundreds of thousands of animals, and to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. Today we are the largest society for the protection of animals in Quebec. We welcome and care for more than 14 000 animals per year. Our veterinarians sterilize over 5 000 animals a year and provide care to animals brought to us injured or in need of assistance. We investigate thousands of cruelty cases and urge action against those who abuse animals. We fight every day to defend the interests of all animals, including livestock, pets and wildlife. For more information, please visit our website at www.spca.com.

The Anima-Plus Veterinary Hospitals mission is to Love, Treat, and Heal animals. Founded in 2006, they regroup five veterinary hospitals and employ over 60 employees, including 18 veterinarian doctors who provide the latest in cutting-edge medicine, focusing on pain prevention and respect for animal life, and integrity. Anima-Plus is also deeply involved with various pet organizations, in addition to contributing to several initiatives that benefit shelters in Quebec, including the Montreal SPCA. Its veterinary hospitals are all accredited (or about to be) by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), is a testimony to Anima-Plus commitment to the highest standards of excellence in its field in North America. www.anima-plus.com
