Statistics for 2023

(January 1 to December 31st 2023)

2023 has been keeping us busy! For the year, we took in more than 14 000 animals. We will continue to work hard in the coming year to find new forever homes for all of the animals we take in. All of this is possible thanks to you. Your precious support allows the Montreal SPCA to carry out its mission day in and day out.

Average length of stay:

Cats: 15 days 
Dogs: 12.8 days 
Rabbits: 28.9 days

Adoption: 14% increase

In 2023 alone, 4,586 animals found new homes through the Montreal SPCA

Investigation Division in numbers

— Number of calls handled: 8,000 

— Number of animals visited: 3,707 

— New operational files: 1,437 

 

 

Veterinary cares: 

6,133 sterilizations (24 per day)
440 dental procedures (2 per day)
22,377 veterinary examinations (61 per day)
184 complex surgeries (1 every 2 days) 

Programs:  

2,257 animals were sterilized at our Mittens-Montreal SPCA Targeted Permanent Sterilization Clinic.  

832 cats were sterilized through our Trap-Neuter-Release-Maintain (TNRM) Program.
