Far away from home – The reality of animals in captivity
The animals who share our planet live in a natural environment that is perfectly suited to their needs. But it happens that some of them are trapped and taken from their habitat.
These animals end up in captivity, where they are exhibited, kept as companion animals, or sold for other uses.

Did you know that the needs of exotic animals are almost impossible to meet in captivity? Yet more than a million of these animals are kept in zoos or by private individuals across Canada in conditions that are incompatible with their well-being.
Learn more about these fascinating animals, their natural habitat, and their fate in captivity in this short video clip.
