Doubled Impact During This Busy Period

Press release – for immediate release

Montréal, July 27, 2021 – The Montreal SPCA is pursuing its summer campaign with an exceptional opportunity: every first monthly donation made by August 31, 2021, will be doubled! This initiative is made possible by Royal Canin and the Bryant-Mapes Fund, who will match new monthly donors’ first gift, up to a total of $25,000. This is a unique occasion to support the Montreal SPCA all year.

“At the Montreal SPCA, summer is a very busy time of year,” explains Élise Desaulniers, Executive Director of the Montreal SPCA. “We receive three to four times more animals than in winter. That’s huge… and so is our need for resources! Now is the perfect time to join our Monthly Giving Program since first donations are being matched. This means the gifts will help twice the animals at the shelter.”

Every day is unique at the Montreal SPCA, but one thing is constant: the unexpected events that arise every day challenge the team to adapt and react quickly. “It is thanks to the continuous support of our donors and partners that we are able to get animals out of difficult situations and give them a better future,” adds Ms. Desaulniers. “And, we are building a society that is more respectful of all sentient beings. A big thank you to all our supporters and to our partners Royal Canin and the Bryant-Mapes Fund for making this campaign possible.”

“A long-time partner of the Montreal SPCA, Royal Canin is proud to match up to $10,000 in first monthly donations during their summer campaign for animals in need,” said Dan Alvo, Royal Canin’s vice-president – North America, Professional Division. “Our company thanks everyone who is making this campaign a success.”

The Bryant-Mapes Fund was founded by two dog lovers, Floranna Bryant and Dorothy Mapes, who wrote animals into their will to help more animals for a very long time. Ellen Bounsall, the Fund’s administrator, notes that “Floranna and Dorothy would be delighted to know that their legacy encourages animal lovers to make the monthly donations that allow the Montreal SPCA to provide animals with the daily care they need.”

Relying primarily on donations from the public, the Montreal SPCA takes in and cares for over 11,000 animals every year. Whatever their circumstance—newborn, elderly, lost, neglected, mistreated, sick, injured or nearing the end of their lives—each and every animal receives the care and attention they need.

Those who wish to donate to the matching gift campaign may do so online at spca.com or by calling 1-866-366-7722 by August 31, 2021.
