Become a parent to orphaned kittens

Each year, the Montreal SPCA takes in many unweaned orphaned kittens who need temporary homes where they can receive attentive care. To prepare for this period, the SPCA is recruiting new foster families who can host between one and four kittens for a minimum period of four weeks.

All necessary supplies (food, bottles, etc.) as well as the support you need to care for the newborns will be provided.

What you need to know before signing up:
  • This training session is for people interested in fostering newborn kittens from the Montreal SPCA.
  • Newborns require intensive care and must be bottle-fed every three to four hours during the first weeks.
  • If other animals live in your home, they must be sterilized and up-to-date with their vaccines. Kittens must be quarantined for at least 14 days before introducing them to the family.
  • Foster families need to come to the Montreal SPCA every two weeks to have the kittens vaccinated.

If you have questions, please contact us at progcliniques@spca.com.

We invite people who are interested in the program to register for one of the mandatory training sessions offered by the Montreal SPCA (limit of one person per registration, aged 18 or older).
