VIOLENCE LEADS TO VIOLENCE

A milestone reached—a huge thank-you!

Thanks to you and everyone else who signed our letter to the members of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, the wording of Bill C-332 has been changed! As we requested, Bill C-332, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (controlling or coercive conduct) now recognizes violence or threats of violence to an intimate partner’s animal as a manifestation of coercive control. This inclusion is a major step toward better protection for victims of violence, and it recognizes the significant connection between animal abuse and interpersonal violence.

Bill C-332 will go through the next stages of the legislative process in the House of Commons. If your support is needed again before the bill is adopted, we will reissue a call to action.

Such improvements would not have been possible without your help. By signing the letters addressed to your elected officials, you are speaking out on behalf of animals and helping to make a better world!
