Seven personalities who helped the Montreal SPCA in 2016

It’s time for a little year-end recap! Here are seven personalities who, with their talent, voice and generosity, greatly helped to promote the mission of the Montreal SPCA and to support the animals at the shelter.

Karl Hardy (left), host, blogger and collaborator at ALT, a French TV-show at VRAK

Karl honoured us by hosting the 2016 GRIFF, our summer event for cat lovers. He also ran informative video capsules that presented various ways to help the SPCA and the animals at the shelter.

Athlete and Olympic medalist, Meagan Duhamel (left), former hockey player and host Georges Laraques (centre), and author and speaker Élise Desaulniers (right)

Last spring, during our “Make Fur History” day, Georges, Élise and Meagan met with visitors of the SPCA, shared information about the fate of fur-bearing animals, and encouraged visitors to choose products that are not tested on animals.

Jean Labourdette, artist

In addition to raising funds for the SPCA with the sale of his posters and sweaters, Jean offered us a very significant gift this summer: a mural representing a smiling dog on the facade of our building, at the corner of Jean-Talon and Mountain Sights—a comfort to shelter employees and in the aftermath of Montreal’s decision to ban certain breeds of dogs.

Pamela Anderson (right), actress and animal rights activist

Our meeting with Pamela Anderson took place this summer, during her visit to Montreal as part of a television shoot. Her visit to the shelter did not go unnoticed and has promoted the SPCA’s work in the media.

You!

A huge thank you to all those who have organized fundraising events or collected items for the SPCA, who have shared our social media campaigns and have helped raise awareness within their own environment. Your support makes a huge difference every day. Thank you on behalf of the animals!
