PETITION – LET’S END THE CARNAGE OF LIVE CHICKS

In Quebec, more than 5 million male chicks are killed each year.

Unlike female chicks, males will never lay eggs and therefore the egg industry considers them to be useless. For profitability and efficiency, they are culled and killed a few hours after they hatch and their sex is identified.

This is a terrible-yet preventable-death.

21,991 people have already taken action.

Goal to reach : 25000

Solutions exist to stop the carnage

A few countries, including France and Germany, have committed to banning the maceration of live chicks by 2021, thanks to the introduction of new technologies. The sex of the chick can now be identified from the very first days of egg incubation. This makes it possible to keep male chicks from hatching just to die a horrific death. Together, let’s put pressure on the Fédération des producteurs d’œufs du Québec so that it too commits to putting an end to the unnecessary carnage of millions of sentient beings.

A plateful of power

To meet Quebecers’ growing demand for eggs, more and more chicks are killed every year. Reducing or eliminating your egg consumption is a simple way to tell the industry loud and clear that you will not tolerate this animal abuse.
